FronteraFest 2023

Theatre from the Edge

"The fringe theater event of the Southwest!"
-Austin American Statesman

WE'RE BACK. That's right: it's time to heat up your winter nights again, this time with the 28th season of FronteraFest at Hyde Park Theatre. As always and ever, FronteraFest is five weeks of alternative, offbeat, new, and just plain off-the-wall fringe theatre. Too bad there's no actual way to expect the unexpected, because that is your only hope.

FronteraFest is produced in collaboration with ScriptWorks, a group dedicated to supporting emerging playwrights and developing new dramatic works.

    The Short Fringe
    January 17 - February 18, 2023
    at Hyde Park Theatre

Every Tuesday-Friday night through February 11, we present a new, unjuried bill of four or five plays no longer than 25 minutes each. Brilliant monologues? Plays in progress? Comedy improv? Cabaret singers? Avant-garde dance? Short films? Multimedia? We've seen it all. See this year's complete Short Fringe listings and ticket links, updated frequently. Most nights will sell out, so don't delay.

Every Saturday night through February 12 is a juried "Best of the Week" performance: these tickets go even faster, so grab your Best of Week tickets now.

The final week of the festival, February 14-18, is the juried "Best of the Fest"--with a few wild cards thrown in. These tickets go fastest of all so get your Best of Fest tickets as soon as possible.

PARTICIPANTS: We have a wait list for Short Fringe, and most of those on the wait list will indeed get to perform! Fill out and submit your application and payment via this Google Docs form.

    B.Y.O.V. (Bring Your Own Venue)
    January 29 - February 4, 2023

The name says it all: participants bring not just their creative work but also their own venue. This year we have two exciting one-woman shows--séance or sluts? Take your pick (though why not both?):
