Hyde Park Theatre presents

The Wolves
by Sarah DeLappe

September 21 -
October 21, 2017

End of year accolades! The Wolves is #1 on the Austin American Statesman's "10 most memorable productions of 2017" list, and is featured on not one but two Austin Chronicle 2017 Top Ten lists as well.

Hey friend! We are selling out like mad so we've added a late show on Friday, October 20 at 10pm. The show runs only 90 minutes--come check it out that night!

Meanwhile! Every review's been a fabulous rave:

"A do-not-miss story . . . An acting ensemble that must be seen to be believed. This group of incredibly talented women turn in some honest, powerful, and memorable performances. In addition to superlative acting and direction, The Wolves sports a script that is a complete slam-dunk. . . . From start to finish, The Wolves is theatre at its absolute best: honest, real, moving, and fun."
- Austin Chronicle

"Girl power puts The Wolves ahead of the pack . . . The nine girls who make up The Wolves are an acting ensemble in the truest sense of the world. The several scenes in which they flawlessly practice passing the soccer ball serve as a perfect metaphor for the amazing work they do together on stage. . . . With such a dynamite cast, directed pitch-perfectly in an excellent script, The Wolves truly leads the pack of current Austin productions."
- Austin American Statesman

"A warm and witty wonder . . Truly captures the tense, sweaty high-wire act that is adolescence. . . . Hyde Park Theatre has created their most accessible production in years, while never losing the edge for which Hyde Park is known. Still present are the moments of emotional truth and examination of the dark side of humanity, but it's couched in a sense of hopefulness. . . . Hilarious, intelligent work."
- Austin Arts Watch

“The vitality of the Wolves soccer team comes close to blasting the roof off the building. . . . A fast-moving, fast-talking, earnestly and boisterously naïve discovery of life's possibilities. . . . Playwright Delappe flashes the equivalent of an emotional strobe light on these inner lives and resists cheap epiphany.”
- Central Texas Live Theatre (caution: the last two paragraphs of this review contain spoilers)

"Rich and touching. My highest recommendation. Don't miss this one. . . . Director Ken Webster has done his usual stellar job with this young cast. He keeps the energy high and helps every cast member make the most of the script. . . . Few playwrights hit this kind of home run their first time up to bat."
- Broadway World Austin

Nine teenage girls make a soccer team--and a New York Times Critic's Pick for Best Theatre of 2016: "Girl power is atomic in The Wolves, the incandescent portrait of an indoor soccer team. The scary, exhilarating brightness of raw adolescence emanates from every scene of this uncannily assured first play by Sarah DeLappe."

The Wolves are Kelsey Buckley, Adrian Collins, Sydney Huddleston, Maria Latiolais, Anikka Lekven, Estrella Saldaña, Bridget Sievers, Shonagh Smith, and Kenzie Stewart, with Rebecca Robinson as the Soccer Mom. The play is directed by Ken Webster; assistant director is Rosalind Faires.
