Finally: for the first time since 2001, it's the long-awaited return of House, by Daniel MacIvor, starring Ken Webster--the HPT show that gets more requests for revival than any other. Check out the Statesman's 4/30/09 story about House and Ken Webster's thirty years in Austin theater.

And it's raves across the board --

Austinist: "[Webster's] one-man shows are particularly magic as typically he will be onstage for a full ninety minutes--set totally spare, props precious few--and yet leave an audience feeling, as they stand to applaud (almost always the case) like they have been fully transported into another creature's bizarre universe."

Austin.com: "Webster truly gives one of the best acting jobs of the year, or perhaps even of his career."

Austin Live Theatre: "Daniel McIvor's text is brilliant writing and Ken Webster inhabits Victor's arrogant slow motion collapse with astonishing ferocity and grace."

Austin On Stage: "This is a performance I would like to see over and over and over . . . 5 out of 5 stars"

Austin Theater Review: "The combination of Daniel Maclvor's captivating writing and Ken Webster's heart pounding performance makes for an originally unique theater experience that will be tough to find anywhere else. . . . Whatever plans you think you have for this next weekend cancel them and make plans to see this show."

Victor, the loser inhabiting Daniel MacIvor's dark and furiously funny one-man show, takes you on a whirlwind tour of the offices, circus tents, supermarkets, Ramada Inns, sewers, dreams, and houses that compose the hallucinatory landscape of his life.

Join us after the show on Friday, May 30 for a little fundraiser celebrating Ken Webster's 30th year in Austin theater. There will be nice things to eat and drink and Webster-chosen tunes for dancing. Tickets are on a sliding scale from $15-$50, and even if you can't come, consider donating by clicking the "donate" button below. Meanwhile, check out this clip from the show (filmed by CHris Rusch):

And what the critics said about the last production . . .

"With an in-your-face brashness and ingenious twists of humor, Ken Webster turns in a convincing performance in Daniel Macivor's "House" as Victor, a darkly humorous man whose innermost reflections elicit roaring laughter one moment and stunned silence the next. Webster knows how to grab an audience and hold them until right before they burst. . . . "House" is a brilliantly crafted, imaginative work that Webster takes to the edge of perfection in his portrayal."
Austin American-Statesman

"Ken Webster brings the house down, starting with the fourth wall . . . animating invisible characters through hilarious stories. . . Enjoy a master at work."
Austin Chronicle
