Harold Pinter's darkly-comic jewel of a play, The Collection, is a rave magnet:

"Pinter's works are incredibly subtle and wickedly comic. . . . Webster's production trusts The Collection to be funny, dramatic, and engaging. The action is very relaxed, effortless even in its precision. . . . delightfully maddening . . . The Hyde Park Theatre cast makes it look easy in this engaging, comedic production."
The Austin Chronicle

"Webster has impeccable taste when it comes to selecting plays. . . . [Joey Hood's] most shining moment to date as a slums-to-manor bad boy, toying with those around him in a slow cat-dangles-mouse ritual."
The Austinist

"What you get with a trip to see The Collection is the combination of one of Austin's best directors, with some of the top acting talent the capital city has to offer."
Austin Theater Examiner

The Collection sizzles with sexual tension as three men and one woman fall into shifting, overlapping triangles of desire and menace. One of Harold Pinter's funniest and most erotically charged works, The Collection was called “one of the best plays of the twentieth century” by Laurence Olivier.

The Collection features an all-star cast of local actors: HPT company members Joey Hood (Killer Joe, Bombs in Your Mouth), Kelsey Kling (The Glory of Living, Blue Surge), and Ken Webster (House, Thom Pain), as well as Ian Manners (Richard III, Inherit the Wind), making his HPT debut. The production is directed by HPT Artistic Director Ken Webster (ACOT Best Director for The Pillowman and Dog Sees God, Critics' Table Best Director for Marion Bridge and Something Someone Someplace Else).

The Collection runs at 8:00 PM on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, September 10 - October 10, 2009. Tickets are $18 ($16 for students, seniors, and ACOT members) on Fridays and Saturdays. Thursdays are pay-what-you-can. Purchase tickets online at Hyde Park Theatre on BuyPlayTix or call 479-PLAY for reservations.
